BIOGRAPHY
Scott is primarily focused on fostering client relationships and building successful collaborations. Beyond that, he has experience in procurement and analysis of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), and has a unique level of experience in international IPR protection. Scott handles patent protection in the electronics, optics, semiconductor, information systems, telecommunications, computer software and medical device technology sectors, because of his strong technical background in electrical engineering.
Scott has advised Fortune 500 companies, universities, foreign governmental research institutes, small to medium sized businesses, and technology startups regarding patent portfolio development and management. He has experience in IP dispute resolution and IPR procurement, both in the U.S. and abroad. Scott has lived and worked in Hong Kong and Singapore, and has an extensive network of contacts and relationships in Asia. Scott also has a strong understanding of intellectual property laws of various countries in Asia.
Scott teaches patent preparation and is an instructor for the South East Asian patent Drafting (SEAD) course for the FICPI Academy of Education, which is currently taught in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Scott is proficient in Mandarin Chinese.

- Conducted audit of open-source software license compliance for U.S. computer technology company; prepared open source compliance program
- Represented U.S. computer technology company in numerous pre-litigation licensing negotiations and IP due diligence projects
- Represented U.S. telecom product manufacture in numerous pre-litigation licensing negotiations
- Advised Middle Eastern university in development of patent acquisition program; advised IP portfolio managers regarding international IP strategy; provided IP portfolio management services
- Successfully obtained numerous U.S. patents and coordinated international prosecution of patent matters for Canadian patent licensing company
- Represented university in Singapore in patent prosecution and patent strategy matters
